Pirates

Nursery and Primary school resources to support the teaching of Pirates.

Ahoy! Pirates have existed since ancient times.  The young Julius Caesar was kidnapped by pirates and only released when a ransom was paid (c. 102 – 44 BC) As long as people have been moving goods or items of value in ships, there have been pirates!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Pirates would steal treasure from ships carrying expensive cargo. According to popular belief pirates would bury their treasure and return to find it later, often with the use of a treasure map. There are still pirates who rob people today, but the pirates we think about lived many years ago. The golden age of piracy was between 1650 and 1720.

The artefacts in the Pirate collection make a fabulous colourful and informative display.  The contents are especially selected to handle, observe, draw, use, question and write about.

The collection is presented in a Large Pirate themed storage trunk and is designed to stimulate and enrich learning.

The picture shows a good selection of the items in the collection, but please see the contents list for everything you will receive in the box.
