Easter is a Christian festival and holiday celebrated by millions of people around the world who honour the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, it is filled with history, folklore and traditional customs.
The resurrection is described in the New Testament as having occurred three days after his crucifixion at Calvary. It is also the day that children excitedly wait for their treats of chocolate eggs.
For Christians, Easter symbolises the dawn of a new life and the high point of the Christian calendar. While defined as a Christian holiday, Easter has many of its roots in the traditions and rituals of the pagan people who inhabited the United Kingdom before its wide spread conversion to the Christian faith.
The Easter box contains religious artefacts as well as a variety of items celebrating the secular side of Easter.
